A family venture on the pipeline trail

So for this weeks hike we plunged into Millcreek Canyon, meandered our way to Church Fork and then hiked (sauntered) the Pipeline Trail to the lookout over the Salt Lake Valley.

It was actually a really great little hike for our family.  It was only about 2.7 miles each way (so not quite 5 1/2 miles total) and -- outside of a little bit of an upward climb at the beginning -- it is fairly flat so it wasn't too hard on our small people.

Church Fork is a great little picnic area with lots of tables and bathrooms and a great little stream/waterfall running through it.  There are several trails that head up from the top of Church Fork, and we will likely explore another one later on this summer (Grandeur Peak).

Anyway, the Pipeline Trail was fabulous.  There was a fair amount of shade as we walked, it wasn't overly steep and the view was incredible!

We did meet a few creatures along the way...

The view from the lookout was amazing.  It got cloudy and semi-sprinkled on us a little bit on our way back, but not enough to even really get us wet.  It just cooled things off and kicked up a nice little breeze.

All in all it was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with my favorite people of all.
