CHHS @ Utah Classic

Several of our children are involved in dance to one degree or another.  Several of them dance at a studio and they are also on a school dance team of some kind (who knew I was gonna grow up to be a dance mom).

Our youngest son, Logan, is a captain on the Copper Hills High School Performing Ballroom Team and this weekend they competed at the Utah Classic Ballroom event.  It was SO fun.

Waltz (Smooth):

Samba (Latin):

Jive (Swing):

Yes, the Copper Hills team danced in three of the group events and ranked first in latin, 2nd in smooth, and 3rd in swing in their division -- but also, Logan competed in syllabus events for the first time.

In a syllabus competition, you and a partner perform a dance style at the same time as other couples in your classification and judges eliminate couples round by round until they choose a winner.  Logan made it to the semi-finals in Cha-Cha and Foxtrot and then ranked 4th in Samba for his group.  It was really fun to watch.

I sincerely love watching my kids do the things they love to do, whatever that thing is.  It's fun to see them in their element and striving to continually grow in that field.  The things they learn through this dedication and focus, no matter what specific skill they are working on, are fabulous.
