Last night we took our annual drive to "Christmas Street" here in the valley (which is located just northwest of 3200 West and 5400 South -- the street, not the valley-- learn more about it here). I have been going there since I was a kid and I still love it. Everyone living on the street gets in on the Christmas action. They put up big signs that tell the story of "The Night Before Christmas" and they decorate their homes to the nines so the whole place is glowing and it is WoNdErFuL!
Anyway, so we drove over with a car full of kidlets and even though it was was only a fifteen minute drive we still had calls of "are we there yet?" but it was just because the kids love it too.
As we drove we sang along with Christmas songs on the radio. During one song Aubrey heard someone mispronounce a word and called from the back seat, "Did someone say 'white' instead of night?" Logan, ever helpful, giggled and said, "Nope, I didn't say white. I said tighty-whitey." We all laughed (that kid is all about underwear anymore).
We kept on singing and soon found that Ellie was singing along too. She doesn't know the real words to most songs so she makes up her own. This song included a section that said, "I have a bumble bee in my bum buuuuuuuuuum!" Not sure where that one came from...and ouch! but it did make us all laugh.
By the time we got to "Christmas Street" Logan had fallen asleep. We tried to make him up, but he was out cold. Aubrey and Bryce took turns reading the Christmas story and we all oooohed and aaaahed over the beauty of it all. Logan woke up just as we were pulling out of the neighborhood and passing out brownies (guess he knows what is important). What a great evening activity for the fam.
